Of course some cakes can be beautiful and some can taste good, but Art Cakes’ goal is simply to create the most delicious cakes that are also works of art. With that in mind, we use only the best, freshest ingredients, including butter, real vanilla, and Swiss chocolate. Our buttercream icing is prepared from scratch using real egg whites, sugar, and butter. Everything is prepared in-house, with the exception of fondant, which is a high-quality imported product. No boxed cakes, no artificial ingredients. Every Art Cakes’ recipe is tested and tasted countless times before it is good enough to star on our menu. Our cake designers are classically trained and love to continue their education. All cakes are made fresh to order and special orders are absolutely welcome.

Our Founder
Sonja Fishkind established Art Cakes in 2005, with the mission to combine her passion for delicious cuisine and art to serve unforgettable creations. Her love of art led her to the University of Georgia College of Art, earning her BFA, and her passion for cuisine then took her to the L’Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, Maryland, to study Pastry Arts. Sonja continues her professional training in chocolate work and wedding cakes with well-known American and European chefs such as Ewald Notter and Collette Peters, among others.
Like so many southern families, ours was filled with great cooks. At family events, each Aunt would bring her “famous” dessert, and over the years, church dinners and covered-dish suppers introduced us lots of wonderful bakers. There would be several versions of the same dish - but only one would be eaten entirely. On the way home, all we could talk about would be comparing the different versions of the same dessert. It didn’t take long to appreciate really great food and understand that superior ingredients make the difference. We pledge to prepare our creations with nothing less.
